Class Schedule

I register for Spring Quarter Classes tomorrow and it looks like I will be taking:

Japan 102: Second Quarter Japanese
Acctg 230: Managerial Accounting
Meoteorology 105: Intoduction to Weather
Another 5 Credit class, most likely BA 240: Statistical Analysis

None of these is looking to be a particularly easy class which is rather irritating. Also the way my schedule will work there is a chance that my posting will fall from its current irregularity to an unfortunate, near extinction. Hopefully I will be able to hold back that dire future but circumstances have a habit of spinning out of my control.

False Advertising

This weekend my parents, Mason and Madeline are going on a mini church retreat to study for their upcoming JBQ tournament in Missouri. Emily and Arita are at a birthday party which means that I am home babysitting Zach. Luckily he has behaved very well for me.

Last night I renewed my familiarity and hatred for the substance Kraft foods fraudulently labels "Macaroni and Cheese". I despise those rubbery noodles and the powdered chemicals that give them their sickingly orange hue.

Real macaroni and cheese is a delicious meal that consists of elbow pasta with a delicious white sauce, loads of sharp chedder, chopped onions and succulent bacon. It isn't boiled on the stove; it's baked in the oven until the cheese melts and gets crispy on top. It is heavenly.

So now that I have wasted my time writing this and your time reading this I will go and do something more productive, like play WCIII.

Somewhat Sad

Today in class I was confronted by the fact that the people coming out of the American government schools are as a group abysmally educated in their own language.

Several people presenting today were struggling with reading their prewritten statements. These are college students! How pathetic does it get? I'm not even getting into their pronunciation. I mean, come on people, "constituent" is not that difficult.

Anyways, before I get lambasted for being a hypocrite, I'd like to make the distinction that the frequent errors in my posts and comments are due not to ignorance but rather to haste and carelessness.

Additionally, I am only placing partial blame on my fellow students for the abysmal language skills, they have been cruelly neglected by the beuracracy that was created to "educate" them and their parents obviously did not care enough to take responsibility for the learning when they were children.

Singles Appreciation Day

Today is Singles appreciation day. Unlike many of my so called peers, who are spending loads of money buying cards, trinkets and gifts for members of the opposite sex, my close friends and I are hosting a celebration of our singleness. We have decided to reject the traditional celebration of romantic love and revel in the fact that we are not chained to any burdensome relationships that necessitate us spending time and money on a romance that we know will not last.

Another reason I have decided to reject Valentine's Day is because of its immoral origins. Valentine's Day descended from the celebration of Lupercalia, during which young men and women would pair up for one night stands by placing their names in urns and then drawing partners.

A particular amusing, and somewhat sad manifestation of Valtentines Day is the Japanese custom. Valentine's Day was brought to Japan through concentrated marketing. Now women, particularly those who work are culturaly obligated to give all of the men they work with and associate with chocolate, often at massive monetary expense. This chocolate is called giri-choco which translates roughly, "chocolate obligation". There is of course, a recipicatory holiday in March where men are supposed to give gifts to the women who gave them chocolate but most men only give a gift to women they particularly like.

Anyways, I hope all my readers have a wonderful Singles Appreciation Day full of cheap fun and freedom from entangling relationships.

Ode to the Pantry Warden

I was browsing through random blogs and I noticed that a lot of people are in the habit of writing odes to people and things that they like. As a newbie in the blogging world I have decided to follow the example of my blog mentors and create an ode of my own:

Oh, Pantry Warden
You have my undying gratitude
At least until I forget about your goodness
You freely give that which isn’t technically yours
And I benefit greatly from it

All kinds of pastries, candies, soft drinks and other sugary substances
They all are freely given to my valiant friends and I
All we have to do is ask and we receive
We open your car and take of the bounty inside
Your willingness to betray your own kin
Solely for our benefit is greatly appreciated
Your Loyalty to us
While not necessarily earned is treasured

I wish for you to be blessed in this life and the next

Is Iran Next?

According to Aljazeera, the US is finalizing plans to launch an Israel assited attack on Iran. While I doubt the accuracy of this report, it still makes me happy that the U.S. might finally be doing something about the Iranian threat.

Adopt a Sniper

While browsing the internet, I found a website that is trying to raise money for American snipers in Iraq who often are not provided with the equipment that is needed to do their jobs with maximum effectiveness.

While I personally don't have any money to support this worthy cause (I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to replace my textbooks), I would like to give them a little publicity. I think that if more people knew of the need that they would have plenty of sponsors to provide these brave soldiers with the scopes, gloves, special body armor, helmets and other equipment they need.

My Picture

Being that my identity is obvious due to the posts of certain friends and family members I thought that I would banish my last illusion of anonymity and post a picture of myself. But the I realized that that would be to easy. So I took a picture of myself and one of TBQelite, cut them into stripes to create the bizzare avatar of what would happen if our physical forms were to divide and fuse into two completely new individuals.
