Bomb!

Today, or the first time since my first quarter in college, I bombed an exam. The test was composed of 9 pages of calculation problems to be completed in 80 minutes. When the time came to turn in my answers, they were 25% incomplete. I would have been much closer to finishing had I not made a small error in the first step of a long problem which required me to redo the problem from scratch after completing it incorrectly the first time.

As a bitter, ironic twist, I studied more for this exam than for any other that I have taken.

I’m Sorry

To those of you with whom I came in contact on Wednesday April 29th,

I didn’t realize that my sweatshirt smelled like it had been used to mop every locker room at the IMA until I had already driven halfway to school. I am very sorry and I will try to prevent it from happening again.

It is a good rule, after reading a new book, never to allow yourself another new one till you have read an old one in between. If that is too much for you, you should at least read one old one to every three new ones. Every age has its own outlook. It is specially good at seeing certain truths and specially liable to make certain mistakes. We all, therefore, need the books that will correct the characteristic mistakes of our own period. And that means the old books.
