I’ve never really liked the feeling of wind on my face. As a result, except as a relief from extreme heat, I rarely rolled down the window while riding in a car. For some reason indiscernible to me, this changed sometime in the last month. After months of driving around in the summer heat with my windows up, I now roll them down for autumn coolness and rain. I have no idea why.

I packed two church services, a long nap and a Risk game into my only day off in the midst of a thirteen day stretch of 12 hr workdays.

I’m starting to get a little tired of working 6 days a week. I can use the money (one can always use money) but since I go to two churches on my only day off, I end up with only a couple unscheduled hours per week.

I like to have blocks of time that are unplanned for reading, catching up on neglected sleep or spur of the moment get-togethers with friends. I miss my free time.

That was fun

Project completed with the assistance of Justin at the expense of Emily.

John Piper wrote a short post on God speaking to us in baby talk that is really great. It’s well worth the two minutes it takes to read.

An interesting quote from a 39 year old single:

The longer you go without marriage, the more complete you make your life, the more difficult the idea of a compromise in marriage becomes. I may be ready to try again, but every day I feel more and more like a confirmed bachelor. I see so many people struggling in relationships that it scares me.

I am nearly finished with Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead. To my surprise, I am finding very little in Rand’s philosophy that I agree with. The book is also too long. I don’t mind really long books but in my opinion there is a fair bit of unnecessary material that doesn’t advance the story or the thesis. Nevertheless the book is quite fascinating and I have really enjoyed it.

There is nothing like driving on the freeway with the windows down in a rainstorm.
