There’s something strange about the way I’ve been stumbling on a host of time killing games during a period when I have a great deal of work I should be doing. The newest edition to the list is Free Rice, a vocabulary game that purports to donate money to help the U.N. feed starving people the more you play. It’s kind of working down an endless Reader’s Digest “Word Power” page. Whether people actually get helped or not (I’m skeptical), it is an easy way to make yourself feel smart and maybe pick up a few new words.

Cool! I’d like to feel smart.
Forty pages, huh? Good luck with that! Reactions? Are you in chemistry?
