Registration
Today I registereed for classes. This semester I'm taking Intellectual History, Asian-American Heritage, Managerial Economics, Intermediate Economic Principals and Foundation of Social Psychology. It's not really a course load that I'm not excited about but life isn't just fun and games.
On another interesting note, a few bizarre inconsistancies I've noticed here in Japan. People are terrified of putting salt on their food because its so unhealthy and yet most people smoke. Also, they have crazy water saving devices like the toilets I described earlier yet none of the sinks have water limiters on them and they spray out so much water that gets all over the place whenever you try and wash anything. It's rather weird.

Salt is good for you though!
So how do they live for like 90 years while smoking?
Geez... you would think that they could see that for themselves. And PB salt is only good for you if you sweat.

Maybe because you do a TON of walking here.

People do alot of sweating here. The natives carry towls to wipe sweat from their faces.
Salt is good in very small amounts, but too much sodium is terrible fot the body...
Why are you taking two courses in history? I hate history!
About the smoking thing, lots of Asians smoke. There's even some little 6ish year old here at the library who smells like cigarettes. (probably second hand smoke) It's really sad actually...
Oh, I forgot to ask you on skype, are the toilets hard to use?
hey raben! just stopped by to catch up. can't believe it's finally happening for ya. i remember the time we were still praying for that "check in the mail". God is good. and i'm glad you're doing alright!
stay in touch and keep it real!
blessings!

Ha! I love it. It's like when you go to fast food places and they have the healthy section-like a fat free food. But then people buy like 3 pounds of it. It just doesn't work. Pretty much defeats the purpose of it all...
I have a degree in history. What's Intellectual History all about? That sounds very interesting.
From what I've been told, Intellectual History studies the origins of important ideas.
We will read Adam Smith, Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, Charles Darwin etc.
As a private study it would probably be fascinating, in class room it has the potential to be sucked dry of all the spontaneity that makes such learning fun.

That's what they call institutionalized education.
I almost never put salt on my food, but it's not because I'm worried about my health. I just think most food (at least in america) is already pleanty salty.
I now what type of sink you're talking about. I hate those their always in public places and you come out of the bathroom with water all over your shirt and you end up looking like a slob.
SMOKE IS NASTY. im with you on that one.
