Classy Video Games?
I found this article, via Slashdot, to be raise some intersting points.
It discusses the need for a new genre of classy, culturally elite video games to improve the reputation of the gaming industry and discredit detractors who decry computer gaming as a worthless waste of time filled with endless violence and guady special effects.

So if I could write a game that could not be played on a computer that cost less than $100,000 would that be considered an "elite" game? As cool as having a 8-way, 16 3ghz core Opteron gaming machine with 128GB of RAM would be, these "elite" games wouldn't get many huge supporters. There's only two games I'm looking forward to for the rest of the year. One is "Portal" which is supposedly another Half Life 2 add-on. The second is "Bully" being the latest game from Rockstar. "Bully" is probably going to be one of those camel's-back-breaking-straw games that will make some idiot congressmen try to criminalize violent video games altogether.
