Media Review: The Pink Panther
After church this afternoon a few of my friends and I went to see the Pink Panther. We had been anticipating this movie for several months. I can't speak for the rest of the guys but I'm a big fan of Steve Martin. His humor might not stimulate my wit but he can make me laugh until my eyes get teary.
I think this movie is one of his best so far, ranking right up there with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Sargeant Bilco.
Martin plays a bumbling police detective who is appointed to solve a high profile murder. His machiavellian boss wants Martin's charachter to muck up the case so that when he takes over the case he will look superior by comparison. The results are hilarious.
As for the films morale fiber, it is comprable to Steve Martin's other PG titles. It contains several negative implications but there's no explicitly bad content.

The movie has a ton of French stuff and people in it. This isn't explicitly bad content?
Sound interesting.
I want to see it.
I remember you read Krissy's name written in Katakana.
How many languages do you know?
English, Spanish, Japanese....
:) Maybe I should see it. Everyone I have heard from said it stunk. Man, there are so many "French" jokes...
thanks for the review!

Ok, I am going to date myself here but I am a big fan of the old Pink Panther movies. Have you ever seen them? Peter Sellers is fabulous! There is one scene here he is sitting on a stool, questioning suspects and he crosses his legs, leans back and forth and rolls backwards off the chair--I die laughing whenever I see it!!! Funny, funny!
Okay - (showing my age too) I use to LOVE LOVE LOVE watching Peter Sellers play "The Pink Panther"....it is one of my favorite memories, cuz I would watch those movies (and Peter Sellers) with my Grandma and we would LAUGH our heads off... (she is no longer not with us :(
Okay - here's my question - I think Steve Martin is funny, but it seems to me like Kevin Kline looks more like Peter Sellers...so why have Steve Martin play him and not Kevin Kline (since Kevin Kline also plays in this movie and can be funny)...Things that make you got hummmm???
Anyway, thanks for the review - I think I still want to see the new version :)
