The New Year is IN, the Old Year is OUT

Our New Year's party was a great success. We invited a few of our friends and neighbors over for a taco pizza dinner and a few hours of board games.

We played several games. I personally played one game of Cranium, coming in last place and one of LotR Risk which I won handily. Some people played cribbage, Memory and a few others. It was a pleasant evening.

At midnight we counted down the seconds and toasted the New Year with Acquiesce Martinis*. We originally intended to shoot our muzzleloaders (loaded with paper wads) up in the air but ended up scrapping the idea, deciding it was too inconvenient.

I hope that each of you has a wonderful new year.

*For those of you who haven't read the Lemony Snicket books, an Acquiesce Martini consists of a glass of water with a green olive in it. Completely non-alcoholic. Having tried one I can objectively say they are NASTY!

The drink wasn't that nasty. Though it did remind me why I don't eat those green olives...

I don't like anything about green olives. I just had to sneak into EPCOT and watch multi-tons of fireworks going off in a few seconds with my friend and a hundred thousand other random people. Plus they had a europop/techno rave party that was pretty cool to watch and hear.

Sounds like fun. I'm terrible at LoTR risk, for some reason...

I've never had an Acquiesce Martinis, because I HATE green olives...

That Lemony Snicket reference is hilarious.

I once ate Turkish Delight just because it was in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Nasty, nasty stuff.

One of my coworkers kept telling me to drink myself silly New Years eve...I should have told him about the Acquiesce Martinis...maybe he would have stopped bugging me.

I don't know why people think its fun to be drunk. It seems pointless and sad to me.

My sister works at a Pharmacy, right? She says that tons of people came in New Years Eve ( in the afternoon) to by stuff to help with hangovers. All these people were planning on getting drunk! They were intentionally planning on hurting themselves! How sad...
