Alito Hearings Begin

Today, Judge Samuel Alito appeared before the Senate Judiciary Commitee to begin the Senate confirmation process.

For some strange reason, the hearings began with each of the senators making a speech about what they think of Alito. It seems like the best way to learn about a canidate for an open position would involve letting them talk and possibly listening but I guess the senators all wanted a chance to monologue and hog screen time.

All in all, nothing surprising or important happened during today's proceedings.

One blurb from New York Senator Chuck Shumer's speech caught my ear:
"You give the impression of being a meticulous legal navigator, but, in the end, you always seem to chart a rightward course,"
Could it possibly that following the laws and the foundations laid down by the Constitution will lead you to the right?

Hey Rabenstrange- maybe you missed my comment in the facial recognition post? I really would like an answer... Is that really you?

Indeed it is. I figured that the risk of internet stalkers going after an adult (if you consider 18 adult) male to be pretty low. So I finally decided to break my policy of no full facial pictures (which I've broken in the past once or twice, my avatar used to be a pic of me.)

Fufufufu. Using my leet internet skills, I have used Walwart's facial recognization and association database to find out your full name, and from there, your home address.

In other news, apparently, the Dems aren't playing very nice with Judge Alito. As in, his wife left the Senate floor crying.

And we are the insensitive ones??
