The Plastic Rocket Awards 2005!
The Plastic Rockets are my awards for my favorite movies of the year.
To give you an idea of what kind of a pool I am pulling from here is a list of all the 2005 movies I have seen:

The Plastic Rockets are awarded solely according to how much I enjoyed the movie. Things such as artistry, quality etc. really didn't enter into my calculation. Things such as my level of sleep likely played a large part in my selections.
WARNING: Some Plastic Rocket recipients (namely Be Cool) contain inappropriate content that should be fast-forwarded. A few might deserve to be skipped entirely by younger audiences.

ooooh, what a list! It had to hard to narrow down! I haven't even seen serenity...is it a guy movie or something? thanks for the list of movies...now i've added a few more from your 'plastic rockets' to see! :-)

"The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" along with "Batman Begins" were def. my top 2 of the year. They had alot of philosphical meanings to them to sort through and that made them good movies to discuss with friends. And of course CS Lewis was a genius writer...so the story already had a great plot for TLWW.
Hmmmm... Interesting list. I haven't seen Serenity yet, what's it about?
Why is Sky High on your list??? That was one lame, terrible visual effects movie! And Be Cool? One of the best movies of the year?
I want to see Red Eye too, it looks cool!
Serenity was the movie sequel to the TV show Firefly. I saw the preview for Serenity with some of my buddies prompting us to go out and get the entire season of Firefly on DVD. "What's it about?" you asked. As strange as it sounds its a Sci-Fi Western. If you're interested watch Firefly first than Serenity.
Why did I like Sky High? Well, as I mentioned in my preamble, I distributed the awards based on how much I enjoyed the movies not really on how "good" of the movies really were.
Sky High was fun because I watched with my family while munching on a pizza fresh out of the oven late at night. I like the kind of corny humor exmplified by Sky High, especially late at night. I guess it just shows that I've got a lot of kid that hasn't been sophisticated away.
Be Cool was similar. I watched it with Mom and Dad. I found the conflict between the gangsta's and the Russian mafia guys hilarious. Plus, as much as I hate John Trivolta, I must admit he plays a great mobster (as in Get Shorty and The Punisher).
He was awesome in The Punisher!!! But otherwise he is annoying. I still disagree with Sky High..

Yeah, I have never heard of Serenity either. I also thought Sky High was dumb.
Batman Begins was a really good movie! Do you think that they'll come out with more Batman movies with those actors (Christian Bale, Katie Holmes, etc) ?
