A Stirring of the Frog Pond
It's about time for me to weigh in on the Paris riots. In an attempt to terminate dual avians with a single mineral projectile, I will also expand on the comment I placed on Mr. Blair's blog. For the convenience of those who do not frequent Mr. Blair's Defense Review, I have reproduced the relevant portion of our correspondence below.

The French do not want to admit that their immigration model (all cultures are equal) is not as good as the one used in the US and other western nations (the melting pot). But whether or not they admit it, everyone can see the disadvantage of the French model. Additionally, WorldNetDaily is pushing for a "Paristinian State," hoping that partitioning France will enable peace to reign there.

France is experiencing the worst civil disturbance they've had in decades. Everyone has their own ideas on why young North-African immigrants have decided to rove around the country's cities setting smashing windows and setting things and people on fire.
Most people seem to agree that a big part of the problem is that the immigrants are very different than the average Frog, live in their own separate communities and feel discriminated against.
Another reason cited for these mobs destructive behavior is that they are poor and have few opportunities available to them. They are trapped in their little ghettos, unable to find work or make better lives for themselves.
Atypically, I largely agree with these mainstream ideas. However, the chain of reasoning from which my agreement hangs is quite different than most of those espoused by other, mostly liberal pundits.
I think the root cause for the immigrants' isolation and relative poverty is socialism.
The massive regulation and oppressive taxation necessary to maintain a socialist state is strangling the French economy. When the economy is down, it makes it harder for people to find jobs. Unemployment in France is at just under 9% and climbing. Among the immigrants, most of whom are less skilled, less educated, who can't speak French as well as native, and have different customs and beliefs, unemployment is much higher.
Why should French employers higher these less capable workers when there are plenty of native Frogs in the hiring pond?
Nevertheless, thousands of more immigrants are allowed to pour across the borders, move into the suburbs amongst all the other North Africans and sign up for welfare. There was no compulsion to integrate so they didn't.
Thus the immigrants are left in their ghettos with high unemployment and little hope. Many of their youths have nothing better to do than sit around and twiddle their thumbs and ferment their rage against the system.
All things needed was a spark for the immigrant situation to set the city afire. The spark was provided by an electrical transformer. This spark electrocuted a couple of immigrant trouble makers who were running from the cops and provided an excuse for unsatisfied teenagers to start breaking things. The disorder spread and we can all see the results.
Wait a minute, a couple of kids getting Darwined doesn't usually cause more than a local outcry. Why did the riots spread so readily?
In addition to the aforementioned dissatisfaction and resentment, smashing things and setting fires is fun! Anyone who has spent an afternoon playing in a campfire or melting plastic figurines with a magnifying glass knows what I mean. If you're a typical guy you know that there have been times in the past where you've looked at something and thought, “I wonder how that would burn.” or “Dang, that is a huge pane of glass. I'll bet it would blow into a billion pieces if I threw a brick through it.” If you're not a guy, you'll have to trust me – we think like that.
Now, finally I can answer Mr. Blair's question, “Why do you say our country is following a similar path?”
Our country is becoming more socialistic. We are allowing immigrants to pour over the border with naught but token resistance. I don' t have time to explain and give examples but a quick Google search should turn up loads of evidence.
The illegal immigrants in our country commit crimes far disproportionate to their numbers. Many are unsatisfied about their conditions and how they are treated. If you don't believe me, Google still works.
I apologize for my hasty and unpolished treatment of this issue but I'm out of time.

And in the same spirit, a bill is currently before the Florida state congress that would require all elementry students from kindergarden to be taught Spanish. Realistically I think it would be a good idea for elementry schools require a foreign language as it is apparantly easier for a younger child to pickup a language than someone older. However this bill requires Spanish only, solely because there's so many il/legal immigrants who only know Spanish down here.
All of the immigrants I know here speak Spanish as their first language, are legal residents, their English is crap but they're learning, they're studying so they can pass their naturalization test, and they're making sure that their kids speak English than they do so they won't have a hard time getting along in society. These are the kind of people who have built this country over the past centuries, immigrants who come hear and assimilate to make a better life for themselves and their families. I'm not seeing this from the majority of immigrants (mostly illegal) from the country directly west of me. These people are refusing to learn the language of the land, refusing to adopt the culture of their new home, yet are demanding government welfare. What's worse is that various 'leaders' and ACLU-type organizations are encouraging such behaviour.
If I was to move to France for whatever reason, I wouldn't expect to be able to conduct my life and business exclusively in American-English; I would have to learn French if I was to get by in France. But since the Frog government pretty much encourages such a thing (as long as you're not English or American) people aren't succeeding in life since they don't know French.

To your post: Oh, I agree that we are becoming more socialistic. However, as a whole, we still encourage integration of immigrants. Of course, that could change..... :( (BTW, where do you get the fact that illegals commit a disproportionate percentage of crimes for their size? I would be interested in that reference... )

He could show you the reports from the FBI or he could just point you to google. They have them up on their site. I'd look it up but it's a pain to do and I don't have the time.
Looks like someone isn't brave enough to use their real username when pointing to a fact they don't like and shouting "LIAR! LIAR!".
And the actual percentage of the prison populan is around 30% last I heard, although that number is probably 2-3 years old. I'm sure you cound find the actual number if you tried.
