Snowflakes
As a result of our snow-love, one of our families traditional Christmas decorations is the paper snowflake. We manufacture prodigious quantities of the pretty little things to adorn our windows, and ceilings.
To make a paper snowflake, take a small, square piece of paper and fold it diagonally so that two opposite corners touch. You should now have a 45-45-90 triangle. Fold the two 45 degree vertices together to form another 45-45-90. Repeat one more time. Now cut a design small pieces out of your triangle to produce holes in the flake and give it a lacy appearance. When you believe that you have enough holes, or there is no longer enough paper left to cut any more, unfold the paper to reveal a pretty, symmetrical flake.
Here are a few I made:

WOW! A shopper AND a snowflake maker! I would have never guessed! ;)
Whenever we make snowflakes, they look like circles with a few triangles cut out of them---nothing like the lacy ones you made.
