Don't Mess With Power
Don't mess with Divine power. Don't mess with government power. Don't mess with parental power.
Don't mess with your power supply. My power supply is buzzing and I think it is on its last legs. Unlike most of my friends my computer needs electricity to function. If I suddenly quit blogging for a few days, It'll probably be because I need to get a new PS unit for my machine.
Hmm, it just stopped buzzing. The fan is still running. Hopefully that's a good sign.
Update:
I checked around the Net and this seems to be the way to go:

It's an Ultra X-Connect 500w w/ Dual 80mm Fans power supply. People seem to like them pretty well. The only thing that mars their otherwise good reviews is that they reputatedly have stiff cables which require a bit more space than a normal PS unit.
I have a standard full size tower case so I don't think the cabling will be a problem. It looks like the second fan is on top of the unit so I may have to cut a hole in the top of my case. Hopefully, I'll be able to get Dad to help me.
I can get one for $75 to the door via ZipZoomFly.com. A $30 manufacturers rebate brings the price down to $45.

I have heard about that particular power supply and the reviews seem good. It is a good thing you are getting it now before you have a problem. The last thing you need is to be stuck...It has happened numerous times at work with a server, and unfortunately older servers are hard to get replacements...especially when you need them...on a side note I also tried getting my old SAT score from the publishers of the SAT, but it seems you have to have the score card with the id number on it to get the score from way back when...but it seems funny if I had the card with the number I would also have the score...but I digress...god job on the PS!
I'll bet you did really well. You seem like the kind of guy who studied hard and with your GPA I can't imagine you doing poorly. 1350 is pretty high if that's what you got. Average on the old test this year was 1,028.
I picked up an Ultra X-Connect 500W unit when my 480W blew up right before I left Seattle. It was on sale @ Fry's for $70 with a $40 rebate. I have a larger than normal case (some people think 11 drive bays is a little excessive) and the cables are kind of a pain since they are stiff and some are definately longer than necessary. Unfortunately mine has a 20-pin ATX power connector while my motherboard requires a 24-pin. Adapter is in the mail at the moment.
