Alien Criminals

The illegal immigrants in our country commit crimes far disproportionate to their numbers. According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (emphasis is mine):

In 1980, our federal and state prisons housed fewer than 9,000 criminal aliens. By the end of 1999, these same prisons housed over 68,000 criminal aliens.1 Today, criminal aliens account for over 29 percent of prisoners in Federal Bureau of Prisons facilities and a higher share of all federal prison inmates.2 These prisoners represent the fastest growing segment of the federal prison population. Over the past five years, an average of more than 72,000 aliens have been arrested annually on drug charges alone.

I'm pretty sure that my anonymous commenter will agree that illegal immigrants make up significantly less than 29% of our population. Therefore, assuming there isn't a massive conspiracy to throw illegals in prison unfairly, we can conclude that immigrants commit crimes disproportianate to their numbers.

I heard some statistics from the FBI and Bureau of Justice that were even more convincing. However, I'm not very skilled at digging data out of their websites and was unable to find them for inclusion in this post.
