Family Portrait #1: The Rockin' Sista'

Because one of my valued readers request family pics and I'm busy with work, going to see Serenity (Uber w00t!), and helping out at a wilderness survival campout, I'll do a brief piece on my rocker chick sister, Emily, instead of my usual monologue.

Emily is a little more than a year younger than I and is obsessed with music. She's played piano for 8 or so years, flute off and on for 4-5 yrs. and during the last couple years she's picked up the guitar.

She is absolutely the opposite of the stereotypical rocker. She's a methodical perfectionist who has acquired her considerable musical skill, not through any particular gifting or natural talent but rather through thousands of hours of practise and an uncompromising determination. She conservative, in dress and in action. Unlike the stereotype, her main non-musical pastimes are baking, and scrapbooking. Neat and tidy, she unleashes a foretaste of Hades on anyone who dares make a mess, forgets to put away their dishes, or irritates her in any other way.

That includes my brief and incomplete look at Emily. For those of you wondering, the reason I did her first was not due to any particular famialial hierrarchy but rather due to the fact that I knew where a picture of her was posted. As you can tell, like me, she isn't partiularly fond of having her face posted online for the world to see.
