BOBbing for Survival
As most of my readers have already deduced I am a rather eccentric person. One of my eccentricities is that I am big on disaster preparedness. As a product of this interest one of the projects I am currently working on is the construction of a Bug-Out-Bag.
A Bug-Out-Bag(BOB) also known as a 72 hr. kit or Survival Kit etc., is a backpack, rucksack, suit case or other carrying device that contains equipment and supplies to help you survive if an emergency forces you to leave your home without notice. The idea behind a BOB is that you will have everything you need packed, accessible and ready to go in the event of a disaster, terrorist attack or whatever.
So far I have assembled what http://bob-oracle.com/ (probably the best BOB website) would consider a minimalist BOB. I hope to move to a higher level of preparedness sometime in the near future.
A few websites to help you in your quest for the perfect BOB:

I am greatly opposed to the term of "BOB." From here on foward, this term shall be labelled as a "surival kit" or an "evac sac."
Thus sayeth me.
Just because you have deep emotional scars associated with the word Bob does not give you an excuse to demand that everyone delete the term from their vocabulary. I will take a stand for the First Ammendment and continue Bobbing along.
I was worth a try... some people (heck... most) will listen and follow you if you say things with a tone of authority.
As the saying goes: "People like you if you make decisions for them."
yay...cuz you know i've always been searching for the perfect bob...lol.
actually i dont like the name bob either.
I use the generic name "Bob" for many objects, animals, or people. But as for the bug-out-bag I found that I can store more than a week's worth of food, plus several day's of water inside my ski coat. It will also hold a small survival kit that even contains a tube shelter. I prefer to use all that space for candy, cough drops, coke, mp3 player, headphones, knife, a paperback novel or two, and most of my school supplies. But its nice to know that I have that option if I need it
I use my M65 sort of for that purpose. I have so many things within it. Some of my friends think it's funny since I keep pulling out random things out of my pocketses.
