Accusations
I have been labeled as belonging to the, quote, "comic book people". I find this very disturbing as I despise comic books and often belittle and ridicule those who read them. If an adult or adolescent person has so little imagination that he/she needs pictures to visualize a story the should stick to the TV instead of reverting to the childishness of picture books. I do not excuse the manga people among my friends for their contribution to this decline in literature quality.
The only exception I make in this tirade against comic books is syndicated funnies such as Dilbert, the Farside, Foxtrot etc.. These comics unlike their story book cousins contribute to the overall satisfaction of the reader by using subtle (especially in the case of the Farside) visual clues to impart funniness. Isn't it amazing how often comic book people completely fail to understand daily funnies? Anyways that is my mostly incoherent opinion regarding "comic book people".

So it is quite obvious from your post that you would despise anyone who would ever read a book such as Sluggy Freelance, as they are storybook style comics.
lol, I didn't mean anything degrading by saying that! :)
Calvin and Hobbes is a good comic, though, and so is Garfield. They are both truly hilarious and worth your time.
Sluggy Freelance is different. Sluggy is a funny comic that uses a story format. Not to mention the fact that it is primarily an internet comic as opposed to a traditional comic book.

Manga is different than comics. There is a reason why it's usually labeled as graphical novels. Though I guess comics may be labeled that as well. If you wish to view manga as a the same thing as a comic, you have your right to do so but you are sadly mistaken.
